PROFESSIONAL SUPERVISION |
As an ACA Level 4 clinical forensic therapist, with 30+ years experience of receiving and providing supervision, I believe supervisors need to be experienced and have advanced skills to supervise effectively.
Professional supervision is a contractual, relational, collaborative process, which facilitates the ethical and professional practice of the supervisee. It encompasses all aspects of your practice and career, including clinical supervision.
Supervision is an opportunity for the supervisee to reflect on their practice to gain a broader perspective, and provides a space to ensure the supervisee is accountable to the personal and professional standards of their profession.
Professional supervision focuses on all aspects of your career/practice including: Clinical, Education, and Administration.
Australian Counselling Association (ACA), Psychotherapy and Counsellors Association of Australia (PACFA); other associations, please contact me directly.
You will be provided with a contract, that will outline the supervisor and supervisee's rights and responsibilities. The supervisee has a responsibility to remain in contact with a supervisor; contact must be within a 2 month period, or the supervision contract will be void.
Supervision is a requirement of many professional organisations, and may be written into a registered counsellor’s employment contract; it is also mandatory to maintain a therapist’s membership. Therapists in private practice are responsible for organising their own supervision and professional development.
